Why can't everyone be like Bonnies?!
Last week was the first week of raising awareness about food waste on campus. The response was kind of incredible...
771,875 lbs
That’s how much food we’d save across the country if every student reduced their waste as much as St. Bonaventure last week!
Hey, it’s Albi!
For many of us, last week might have been the first time we’ve ever thought about how much food we’re wasting.
So, let’s see how much difference being conscious of food waste can have…
In the first five weeks of the semester, we wasted an average of 5.5 oz per person each day — over the course of a week, that’s about the same as one Large Domino’s Buffalo Chicken Pizza…each!

😭😭 so much wasted pizza
Last week, we sliced (pardon the pun😬) this down to 4.85 oz — that’s a 12% reduction in just one week!
Okay, fine…0.65 oz doesn’t sound like much, right?
But what if every college student in America made that small change?
In one week, we’d save 771,875 lbs — that much food is responsible for the same amount of emissions as driving 463 cars for a whole year!
But why stop there…imagine the difference we can make if we keep wasting just a little bit less each day.
Be sure to spread the word about food waste (you can even steal our facts and pretend you worked them out yourself — we promise not to tell anyone).
Keep up the amazing work and remember to always eat smart!
Best,
The Albi Team
